The Holding Heart - Individual, Relationship Psychotherapy & Life Coaching, LLC
Communication Consulting, Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator
My calling as a therapist began with the study of communication that has led to a career passion to help people connect with their own self and with one other. This began when I first became speech therapist working with children and to help strengthen their connection and foster development. I became readily drawn to study adult relational communication -- in intimate relationships, friendships and life conversations. Then psychotherapy found me. Now with over 25 years as a therapist and communication consultant I enjoy collaborating with people to live more satisfying and healthy lives. To this day I remain fascinated by how we navigate connection with one another in so many essential life relationships, including the relationship we develop with our own self to evolve into greater love. An important part of my personal and professional growth has been the development of a life practice of mindfulness and meditation. I can say that I am definitely steeped in both Eastern and Western perspectives of change. I love fusing various life perspectives, neurobiology along with practical strategies and compassionate guidance to offer profound opportunities to create a joyous life -- not just to resolve old patterns of fear and dis-ease, but to find their authentic self in order to live wholeheartedly, which I believe is our true nature even if it feels like we're alone or have taken a side road! That's where we can work together. In this endeavor, I am constantly inspired in my work by these people -- Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Brene Brown, Dr. Bruce Lipton MD, Dr. Dan Siegel MD, Pemra Chodrin, Gregg Braden, Stan Tatkin, Dr. Sue Johnson, John and Julie Gottman, David Whyte and many more.
I recently moved from Seattle, Washington to relocate to Boulder ,Colorado area. The Front Range offers so many opportunites to expereince nature. I enjoy activities with my Tibetan Terrier dog, dancing and yoga. I am a lover of meditation, art, writing, poetry and photography, and listening to all kinds of music, especially jazz.
I feel grateful I get to do the work I love and that I feel I was meant to do. I get to help people wherever they are on their journey, and wherever they live. I love having the opportunity to meet all kinds of people around the world and their unique approaches to being human. Many of us it seems we are in a vortex of change these days, both personally and globally. This can seem unsettling and yet is such a great opportunity to develop new strengths and awaken to the life we desire. I appreciate the opportunity to be of service during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact me for a free initial consultation so we can determine how I might best assist you. ~Deborah
